Stuart and Julie were both training horses professionally, separately, before meeting each other.** They were married in 2004, started building their training facility and began McQueen Performance Horses, Inc. Combined, they have over 45 years of horse experience. They both have been fortunate to learn from and ride with World Class trainers over the years, and now have their own successful training program. Julie McQueen with "Diamond Cufflinks" aka "Nitro" owned by Julie McQueen Julie McQueen- * Julie was born in 1972 and raised in Santa Maria, California. * She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science and a Minor in Agricultural Business from the California State University, Fresno. * Julie has over 26 years experience with horses in many areas, including veterinary medicine, managing large numbers of horses, riding, training, showing, breeding, and is a part time equine veterinary technician with Naugle Veterinary Services in Penrose, CO. * Julie has specialized training in equine reproduction, having experience in all phases of stallion collection, processing semen for shipping and freezing, broodmare management including "AI" - Artificial Insemination of mares, and foaling. * Julie began taking lessons and showing with a multiple world champion paint horse trainer when she was 8 years old. Julie has has been riding, showing and training ever since. She has a wide variety of experience in many disciplines including: Hunters/Jumpers 3 Day Eventing (Dressage / Cross Country / Jumping) Western Pleasure Western Riding Reining Working Cow Horse Team Roping Trail (show trail and mountain riding) Ranch Work- has worked on cattle ranches * Julie has an extensive cattle background as well. She has worked on cattle ranches with both purebred and commercial cow /calf operations, has shown purebred bulls, steers and cows and owned her own roping steers. * Julie has shown at AQHA, APHA, IBHA, PHBA, IHSA and AHBA shows, in addition to roping at USTRC and jackpot ropings. * Julie has trained and worked with horses that have won Reserve World Championships, World Top Tens, Circuit Championships and have taught students who have earned multiple all-around titles.

As he grew up, he rode with many great trainers and gained the knowledge needed to make nice, well trained horses. * Stuart began training and showing Quarter Horses in the late 1980's and has experience in many events, including: Western Pleasure Western Riding Horsemanship Reining Working Cow Horse Cutting Hunter Under Saddle Dressage Trail (show and mountain riding) * Stuart has a Degree in Criminal Justice and worked for the Colorado Department of Corrections for 13 years before quitting to train horses full time. * His last 2 years with DOC was spent at the Wild Horse Inmate Program where he trained wild mustangs and taught inmates who had never been on a horse, how to train the mustangs. Having to teach people who have never, ever, worked with horses, developed Stuarts communication skills which have made him an excellent teacher. * Stuarts teaching methods are clear, concise and to the point. His lessons enable riders to get the most out of their horses and he gives his students a clear understanding of the "how" and "why's" of training. * Stuart has trained and worked with horses that have won World Championships, Reserve World Championships, World Top Tens, Circuit Championships, in addition to prizes such as saddles, horse trailers and more. Stuart and Julie's future goals are to continue making nice horses for their clients, hopefully for many more years to come!
